I took the GREs today. That’s the Graduate Record Examination, the test you have to take to apply to most graduate schools. I did this back when I was in my 30s, but I never attended grad school. Today I’m 54 and very excited by the possibility of going back to school for marketing. If you haven’t taken a test like this lately, you would be surprised at how militaristic the process has become. When you arrive at the testing center, you basically sign away all of your rights, get ‘wanded’ by a metal detector, have to put every belonging except your ID, a pair of reading glasses, and 2 tissues into a locker. You also have to sign in and out every time you get up to go to the bathroom. They actually have you pull up your sleeves, turn your pockets inside out and show your socks. Fort Knox has nothing on these testing centers.
You do go around setting a good example of how to live a full and fulfilled life! I hope your newest goal is quickly achieved!
Congrats, Rhea!!!
Congratulations on your starting the process to return to school for a graduate degree.
Thanks, everyone, for the good cheer!
Good for you! I took the GRE when you used no. 2 pencils and filled in the bubbles…
Yeah, it’s computerized now. It was fast.
Congrats on pursuing your goals, but what a hideous bummer that everywhere we go these days we are all treated as though we might be looking to blow something up or shoot somebody.
Thanks, Sul! It was really over the top, all the security.
